Dr. Teixeira received her Dental degree in 2000 and a master in Operative Dentistry from the State University of Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. She completed her PhD in Applied Materials Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008, where she also served as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry from 2005-2007. From 2008-2014. Dr. Teixeira worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Teixeira is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry & Dental Clinics.

Dr. Teixeira serves a peer reviewer for different professionals’ journals. She is actively involved on clinical teaching, patient care, and research. She is a member of professional organizations such as the American and International Association for Dental Research, the Academy of Dental Materials, and The American Dental Education Association. She has published in various peer-reviewed journals on topics related to biomaterials, and clinical practices.  Dr. Teixeira is a co-inventor of the Educational Caries Teeth.
